Facebook Group: "Unfriend Veronica Escobar 2014", and the "Veronicuns"

Just a quick update on the "U R Not My Facebook Friend" scandal between County Judge Veronica Escobar and Democratic Party activist Alex Guzman.  A new Facebook group has been created called "Unfriend Veronica Escobar 2014". It is a closed group, with 198 members, created last night (from what I can tell), I was added by someone and will remain in the group to observe the goals and growth of the group.  Because I am a member of the group, and if you want to join the group, please Facebook me a request as only a member of the group can add members.  It is not a "fake" group, it is real from what I can tell.

It appears that the primary goal is to "UNFRIEND" County Judge Veronica Escobar in 2014", as in her next election.  The group is accumulating a list of political blunders that I will post at a later date.

Who are the "Vereonicuns" and why are they called "THE VERONICUNS"?
The "Veronicuns" are a political faction lead by the "juan-and-only" Veronica Escobar.  The "Veronicuns" emerged as a leadership group out of the political faction known as the "Shapleighites".  The Shapleighites were led by former Senator Eliot Shapleigh who began his political career by pushing out former Senator Peggy Rosson before her 4th term in office, even though he was in the group that recruited her to run against Senator Tati Santiesteban.  Shapleigh created a group called "UNITE El Paso" that he used to launch his political career, disparaging the hard work of EPISO and after he was elected to office he abandoned UNITE El Paso, which to this day is dead.  His political ally and masta strategist is former Mayor Ray Caballero, the one time mayor of El Paso who was defeated by former Mayor Joe Wardy.

The "Shapleigh Generals" of the faction were Veronica Escobar and her BFF (best friend forever) City Representative Susie Byrd. Steve Ortega (aka Stevo) and Beto O'Rourke (aka Baytoe) were Lt. Generals

After the loss of Mayor Caballero, the Shapleighites decided to run for office successfully, pushing what they call a "progressive" agenda of gentrification (the systematic and calculated erasure of symbolic Latino cultural symbols, historical buildings, monuments, and public art in El Paso), awarding unprecedented no-compete contracts to questionable entities including friends and political allies, pushing an eminent domain agenda of properties that perceived political allies are interested in, tolling roads (starting with Cesar Chavez Highway), placing on the agenda domestic partner benefits even though City Representative Jan Sumrall had already passed it on Council in December 2003, reversing a voters referendum, increasing taxes, increasing the indebtedness of the county and city with non-taxpayer approved bonds, awarding tax breaks to what appears are political allies and then changing the terms of the contract because the "ally" could not increase jobs as he had promised, supporting privatization against the desires of organized labor and dissing union contracts even though all of them are proclaimed "Democrats" and much, much, more!

After former Senator Eliot Shapleigh retired from the Senate, the "Veronicuns" emerged.  County Judge Veronica Escobar has jumped from County Commissioner to  County Judge.  City Reps Stevo and Susie Byrd are being recalled, Beto O'Rourke if still on Council would have been recalled but retired from Council to run for Congress against Congressman Silvestre Reyes with an agenda that includes proposing and pushing legalization of marijuana and signing off on the permit to build the International Bridge at Yarbrough, even though his father-in-law has real estate interests on the other side of the bridge in Juarez, and there is opposition against the bridge by neighborhood groups, the El Paso Independent School District, and the Ysleta Del Sur Pueblo, that have federally recognized Indian land claims.

Veronicuns - a political faction known for their cunning and deceptive political maneuvers to push their own agenda (see progressive agenda above)

Leader, County Judge Veronica Escobar

General Michael Wyatt: (her immediate past campaign treasurer until he resigned in order to be appointed the "Ethics" Attorney at the County by Escobar and the County Attorney)

General Susie Byrd (BFF), currently helping Candidate Baytoe O'Rourke with his legalization of marijuana campaign and signing books across America; voting on and chief architect of the "progressive" agenda described above.

Secretary of No Compete Contracts: General Stevo Ortega, has led the awarding of thousands, if not millions, of "no compete contract" public dollars to various entities including some political allies.

Secretary of Build the International Bridge at Yarbrough:  Baytoe O'Rourke Candidate for Congress, who has questionable conflict of interest votes when he served on City Council, and who as Congressman will be the deciding factor on whether the bridge will be permitted or not.

Awesome.....love this blog....let's compile a list of what Byrd has done for her district....don't forget Cushing gets credit for Memorial pool and library....I'm sick of Byrd being the receiver of praise for many things she inherited.....so WHAT has she done?

All Byrd has done is sell out to the PDNG, put in a bunch of roundabouts all over the place, encourage more gay bars to open, and promote legalizing pot. None of which helped the people in her district in any way.

Has someone started the "DAMM" (Democrats Against Marissa Marquez) facebook page yet? As an elected official, she sure has forgotten who put her there. She votes whatever Escobar tells her too, guess she might be a Lt. with the Veronicuns.

I agree with much of your stance and comments on many of your blogs. I do not agree with you mentioning O'Rourke and Byrd supporting legalization of Marijuana. I believe many in the world of politics support the push for legalization if not publicly - silently! I would have left this out.
