El Paso Democratic Party Convention April 21st

The 2012 El Paso Democratic Party Convention will be held this Saturday, April 21, at Jefferson High School in Central El Paso.

This years convention is different in that there has been no Democratic Primary because of the redistricting court cases, rulings, and finally agreements reached between the Democratic and Republican Partys.  The convention is the first step to being selected to the Texas Democratic Party state convention where state party officers will be elected in June.  In addition, anyone wanting to be a National Delegate to the DNC Convention in Charlotte, North Carolina beginning September 3rd, must start the process at the COUNTY CONVENTION level.

You have a chance to talk to all the candidates for office plus any office holders that show up.  Perfect time to ask questions one on one, and see how the candidates interact with each other and with hard core Democrats.  Plus is the time to present resolutions for consideration on issues you would like presented at the state convention.  There is a Resolution Committee that will take any and all resolutions to the committee where they will recommend resolutions to be considered by the convention floor by all the Delegates present.

So all of you young Democratic whipper snappers, and oldies but goodies, Yellow Dog Democrats, Blue Dog Democrats, and the rest of you "D's" the convention is this weekend! Get ready for a long day!  The Credentials Committee will start seating Delegates at 8:30 am and the convention starts at 10:00 amish (we are Democrats and may start a little after).

I'll be blogging and tweeting from the convention floor!
